Dress To Progress: Elevate Your Look From Summer To Fall

September 12, 2016

Don’t pack away your summer pieces just yet, as we are still experiencing some heat! Although summer is still here, there is no denying that fall is right around the corner. The fall season comes with pumpkin-flavored EVERYTHING, cooler temperatures, football season, and the crunch of leaves beneath your feet. What’s not to love?

I know I’m not the only one who is eager to change up my style this time of year, but it can be difficult with the in-between temperatures. By adding a few simple touches to your look, you can dive into the fall spirit while still keeping your layers light. Here are some tips on how to transition your wardrobe into fall.

Look One

This first look is nice and easy to pull from your closet. In order to transition this style, wear a denim jacket, which adds a hint of layering to keep you nice and warm, as the nights and days become a little bit cooler. Put your sandals away and bring out your booties!!! To give this look more of a fall vibe, pair it with brown boots that have a chunky heel which are in style for this upcoming season. If you’re still trying to show off some leg, try cuffing your pants and finish this piece off with a bold hat.

Look Two

This next look is very simple. For a casual Friday vibe, wear a crop top, a pair of ankle boots and a baseball hat. Take your jeans from summer to fall with dark-wash denim. It can be worn year-round, it makes your legs look slimmer, and can take you from day to night. To top off this look, throw on this army inspired jacket for extra layering and extra warmth.

Look Three

This last look works for either season easily. A tank top is a go-to during the summer to stay cool, although it's a great way to transition. Throwing on a flannel, a hat, and boots make this look more fall appropriate. Lightweight flannels are still airy for summertime, yet have a “bonfire ready” feel to them. A hat, in addition, is another effortless way to transition your look for the cooler months. It is a statement piece that can change the mood of your entire outfit. By ‘stepping’ into the in-between temperatures, you can add ankle boots to this look. Boots are an ideal item for fall and go great with a mini skirt!
